Facebook Is Stupid

Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook, gave a presentation during the Nielsen Consumer 360 convention of late indicating that electronic mail is in all probability going away.

Her reason was as follows, in consumer technology, if you want to identify what people like us will do in the future, you look at what young people are doing right now, and the newest figures say that just 9% of adolescents use email.

So Sheryl is telling us that more adolescents are on Facebook and as a result, in the future, all adults will be on Facebook.

Lame.

There is little basis in reality for this statement.

For example, in 2000, teenagers starting purchasing ipods hence, all adults in the future will be on ipods thus you ought to think of Apple as truly a precious company right now for the reason that some day, all adults will be Apple buyers.

That's hazy reasoning at best. Who is to say that these same adolescents are going to be attracted to Apple in 9 or 15 years from now? The planet is not static, particularly tech. Some other business can most likely release something even more improved which makes ipods obsolete this number of years from now. Also if ipods are still on the market in 15 or 22 years from now, whose to tell us that human psychology doesn't command that a certain percentage of teenagers outgrow them as they grown-up, transform, partake of greater demands and responsibilities on their life like providing groceries and housing for a spouse or a child.

That reasoning is a large heap of dung which COO Sheryl Sandberg enthusiastically stepped into by her own actions.

Although it gets even dumber.

A new marketing poll shows that adolescents are in reality leaving Facebook for three reasons: 1 - adolescence are no longer on Facebook because their parents are there now, 2 - for the reason that there are too many adult people there, and 3 - they are concerned about confidentiality.

Consequently following COO Sheryl Sandberg's reasoning, Facebook is in trouble as youth are starting to make use of it less.

Sheryl was trying to build up the worth of Facebook in peoples minds with her logic of watch what youth are doing in the present day, on the contrary what she ended up doing is reaching exceedingly far and stepping onto a icy slope that has opened the door for criticism.

So what does COO Sheryl Sandberg have to say about this new marketing sample of adolescence that reveals their use is going down? She has ran off comparable to a dog with its tail stuck between its hind legs.

And so that's the reason why Facebook and COO Sheryl Sandberg win this week's stupid business move of the week prize.
